I had to take a ferry over to Seattle and when I got there I went and participated in the activity I went there for, and got a little carried away. I lost my money, literally, it fell out of my pocket. I lost it and I had no way home since the ferry cost money. There I was with no money and nowhere to go, no coat, no way to get home, in the middle of the night! Fortunately, earlier when I got off the boat in Seattle there was a guy that I passed by when I was walking off the boat doing shoe shines for folks. He asked me if I needed a shoe shine and I said “”no, but I’ll I’ll just give you some money.” He was so grateful and flashed me a big smile and said, “thank you, I can afford to take a mini break now.” He was about 70 years old if I had to guess, so I gave him the money and went about my way. Long story short, in the middle of the night, unsafe, alone, cold, it was the 80s soI was wearing skimpy clothes. I was dressed kind of like a cross between madona and cindy Lapper ( embarrassing to admit now) I was scared and tried to hide in a doorway shadow, but sticking out like a sore thumb! I tried to not look at anyone, just look enough to know positioning when that same guy walked up to me and said, “are you stranded?” I told him my story and he said “do you have money for the ferry?” and I said, “no but that’s okay I’m all right and he looked around and said “no you’re actually not, he then handed me twice the amount I gave him earlier! It was exactly too the penny how much I needed for ferry and taxi! That guy, as it turned out was my next door neighbor! Neither of us had ever even spoken or even knew the other one existed! How weird is that? I just was so grateful for the kindness of that Stranger and I couldn’t believe how that all panned out! I caught the very last ferry and was able to sleep in my own bed. Oddly, the next day when I went outside to check the mail, he was sitting on his porch, (which was all about 10 ft from mine) we both just belly laughed.
